**Tips for Using Pottery: When using pottery for cooking, never place it in a preheated oven. The rapid temperature change from room temperature to oven will cause the clay to crack. Instead, place the food in the dish, place it in a cold oven, and then set the oven temperature. Also, never use soap when washing unglazed clay as it will absorb the soap and it won't be possible to completely wash it out of the clay's pores**
