A wonderful find! According to a former employee of American Greetings, this is a prototype of a Holly Hobbie doll that was being developed by American Greetings in Cleveland, Ohio, approximately 35 years ago.
After prototypes were developed and had their share of meetings, discussions, and design modifications suggested, the prototype was tossed into a storage room. When the room was full, American Greetings would allow employees to have their picks from the room as a kind of bonus for working there. This doll came from that room and was held onto over the years by the employee.
This lovely treasure is now available to you.
Holly Hobbie Poseable Prototype Doll
**10 1/2 inches tall**
**Dressed in leg-of-mutton sleeved dress with apron, muslin slip, bloomers, striped knee socks, and black vinyl shoes. The sleeves have padding and the dress fastens with two snaps. All clothes are removable**
**Impressed into back of head is: "K.T.C."**
**Bow that is in hair may not be original to doll, it was there when found so has been left in place.**
**Because this is a prototype, some of the smaller details were skipped, such as color for the lips**
**Please note: Because this is a prototype, it was not stored or treated with much care, thus there is some wear and dirt smudges on face and hands and clothes. That being said, this sweet doll is actually in very good overall shape. Please look at all photos**
