**WIN (Whip Inflation Now) was President Gerald Ford's attempt to encourage personal savings and more conservative spending by the general public as a part of his overall economic program to bring inflation under control. WIN was presented to Congress by President Ford on October 8, 1974. President Ford thought that supporters of his economic program would wear the pins and thus help create the same feeling of solidarity the country felt during World War II. However, his idea backfired when WIN buttons became immediate objects of ridicule, with critics wearing the pins upside down and declaring that "NIM" stood for "Need Immediate Money", "No Immediate Miracles" or "Non-Stop Inflation Merry-Go-Round". To get a pin, people had to fill out a form pledging to fight inflation and save energy and mail it to President Ford"
**Has pinpoint nick on edge, slight wear overall**
**This pin is printed with "Creative House Prom. 60641" on the edge of the pin. (Other WIN pins were printed with "A.G. Trimble Co. PGH. PA.15222")**
