**Green glass "fish" ball stopper bottlepatented by Hiram Codd**
**These bottles were designed with "fish eye" slots so when the bottle is held with the eyes on the underside they serve to hold back the internal marble so liquid can pour out. When the bottle is held with the eyes on the top side, the marble rolls to the mouth of the bottle and seals off the liquid. Halfway down the bottle are indented "gills" that keep the marble from going to the bottom of the bottle, thus making it so the marble is never far from the bottle mouth.**
**Marble is of green glass, which looks frosted from so many years of rolling to the bottle mouth**
**One side of bottle has an embossed double oval, outer ring has "C. Gatcum Aldershot", inner ring has initials C and G overlapped**
**At the bottom of the other side of the bottle is embossed "A. Alexander & Co., Leeds & London"**
**Bottom of bottle has an embossed "5"**
**Bottle is of very heavy, thick green glass with air bubbles throughout as is typical of glass of the time period**
**No cracks, no breaks, no repairs, no chips**
**There are spots and/or residue inside the bottles. Where some of the air bubbles in the glass were close to the surface, they popped, leaving a pinpoint dip in the glass, as to be expected with true antique glass**
**One bottle has the remnants of the original rubber stopper.**
