Frankoma Pottery began as Frank Potteries in 1933. It was founded by John Frank, a Chicago Art Institute graduate, who believed that even people who were not rich should be able to buy and enjoy art and sculptures in their homes.
A year later, at the suggestion of Mrs. Frank, the name of Frank Potteries was changed to Frankoma to reflect that it was located in Oklahoma.
