In 1942, Muriel Joseph George was producing Lucite jewelry and selling it under the company name "Muriel of California". However, World War II caused the price of Lucite to rise so high that Muriel changed her focus to ceramics.
When the war ended, Muriel and her fiance, Tom, went on to form Josef Originals (a printing error led to the misspelling of "Joseph), which would eventually become the George-Good Corporation.
Muriel made her first foray into ceramics through Muriel of California. She eventually arranged for pieces to be produced in Japan but with her oversight and approval in order to keep the high quality she insisted on maintaining.
In 1992, Muriel died, but her beautiful artwork and amazing skills live on in the artwork she left behind.
